Lancashire CCC have announced a 13-man squad for their LV= County Championship match against traditional rivals Yorkshire CCC at Headingley Carnegie starting today.
Unfortunately, the squad is still struggling for fit Seamers, with no less than six bowlers unavailable through injury or International commitments. Glen Chapple (stress reaction, left foot) has started light training this week, Sajid Mahmood (intercostal strain) started light training last week, Tom Smith (Grade 2 abdominal tear) is receiving ongoing treatment and Steven Cheetham (ankle complaint, left) has recently had a cortisone injection and will be monitored closely. Andrew Flintoff and James Anderson are part of England’s squad for the 5th npower Test Match at the Brit Oval.
Head Coach Peter Moores has named the same XI players that started last week against Durham at Old Trafford plus added all-rounders Steven Croft and Steven Mullaney to his squad for the trip over the Pennines. Steven Croft has been unlucky to miss out over recent matches as he has been in a rich vein of form; topping off an excellent few weeks in the Second XI by scoring two centuries in as many days at Liverpool last week not to mention a 5-wicket haul. Steven Mullaney himself has been amongst the runs this year, recently scoring 207 against Worcestershire in a Second XI County Championship match.
Bowler Tom Lungley who is on loan from Derbyshire, is set to make is second start in as many matches for Lancashire, whilst Luke Sutton continues to captain the side in the absence of Glen Chapple.
